why poetry is so much fun

if i gave all of me
and laid it out for you
what if you took it all
and then what would i do?

nothing to give,
then i couldn't really take
and then i'd be nothing
but just a figured-out-mistake

the mystery gives power
and keeps everyone sane.
if you too want to keep your life
